Juvederm Bellevue & Kirkland

Dermal filler injections are among the most popular cosmetic procedures in the United States with over a million injections performed every year. Within the dermal filler category, hyaluronic acid fillers are by far the most popular due to their good safety profile and versatility. Two filler manufacturers offer hyaluronic acid fillers–Restylane and Juvederm. Both are about equal in usage and most providers offer both. Northwest Face & Body offers the best Juvederm Bellevue and Kirkland provides.

The Lowdown On Juvederm

Juvederm is a type of cosmetic injectable known as a dermal filler. It is injected for two main purposes: to fill hollows and wrinkles or to augment areas of the face. Primarily used on the face, dermal fillers like Juvederm are among the top non-surgical procedures for anti-aging. With millions of filler injections performed every year, it is an extremely popular and versatile tool for looking younger and achieving your ideal facial aesthetic.

Within facial fillers, some subcategories refer to what the filler is made out of. Juvederm belongs to the largest and most used classification: hyaluronic acid fillers. This means that Juvederm is lower risk than semi-permanent fillers and can treat more places such as the lips.

The master injectors at Northwest Face & Body are masters at using Juvederm to artfully augment and fill in facial features. Northwest Face & Body provides the best Juvederm Bellevue and Kirkland offers.

The Lowdown On Juvederm

Juvederm has many applications across the face. Some of the areas Juvederm can treat include:

Patients can usually treat multiple areas at once. Juvederm also pairs well with neurotoxin treatment such as BOTOX or Dysport. Your master injector will discuss which areas you are a candidate for treatment and the best Juvederm filler for each area.

Advantages Of Hyaluronic Acid Based Fillers

Hyaluronic acid is found naturally in the body, the largest concentrations of which are in the eyes and joints. Therefore, while rejection or allergy to the filler is possible, it is highly unlikely. Another major benefit of hyaluronic acid filler is that they have a natural reversal agent, hyaluronidase.

When injected, it breaks up the filler. If you experience major side effects or complications or end up unhappy with your new look, there is an easy antidote. This also increases the safety of hyaluronic acid fillers when compared with other types of fillers. If occlusion (the injection of filler into a blood vessel) or an adverse event occurs, it can be immediately addressed in the office.

While it may not seem like an advantage at first, the temporary nature of hyaluronic acid fillers allows patients to stop treatments whenever they want, try out various filler options, and try out different looks each time. This experimentation allows patients to find the exactly right filler option and technique for them.

Types Of Juvederm Filler

Juvederm makes a few different fillers that each have a slightly varied consistency and tend to be used in different areas. The main Juvederm offerings are Juvederm Ultra, Juvederm Ultra Plus, and Juvederm Voluma. Your master injector can discuss each option with you in detail and help determine which is best for the area you are treating and your goals.

  • Ultra: Normally used as a lip filler, Juvederm Ultra can also treat the nasolabial folds. Typically, Ultra is considered among the thinnest of Juvederm's fillers. It lasts on average around three to six months.
  • Ultra Plus: Contains lidocaine for improved comfort and is also used for dramatic lip augmentation. It is also used in the nasolabial folds. Slightly thicker than Ultra, it has a few more uses and sometimes is used in the cheeks or chin. It is versatile and great for volume loss and facial wrinkles. Juvederm Ultra Plus also lasts around six months, though can last longer in some places and individuals.
  • Voluma: Among the longest lasting hyaluronic acid option, Voluma is typically used in the chin or cheeks. It can last up to two years. Out of all hyaluronic acid fillers, it is often considered the one that lasts the longest.

Before & After Juvederm Injections In Bellevue

Consultation

The first step for undergoing Juvederm filler injections in Bellevue is to attend a consultation with a master injector. At this appointment, your master injector will ask you about your goals, medical history, history with fillers, and lifestyle. They may also briefly examine the area to evaluate the skin quality, thickness, and other factors that influence the filler choice and process.

If they believe you are a good candidate for your chosen procedure, they will discuss the many fillers you have to choose from. In some cases, you may undergo filler injections the same day. Otherwise, you can schedule your appointment at your convenience or before leaving the office.

Injection Process

First, your master injector will prep the injection sites. This involves disinfecting the areas with alcohol and cleansing them of any makeup or environmental debris. After this, they will likely apply topical numbing cream. This will sit for around ten to twenty minutes. During this time, your injector will prepare the Juvederm.

Your master injector will then begin the filler injections. Depending on the treatment, they may use a needle or cannula. If using a needle, they will start injections immediately. With a cannula, they will make a small entry point for the cannula using a small needle. After inserting the needle or cannula they will slowly inject the filler. They may move the needle within the injection point or inject at multiple sites to add volume evenly for the ideal results.

For most areas, the injections themselves do not take longer than about ten to fifteen minutes. You can have multiple areas treated at the same time. Along with the topical numbing cream, the Juvederm contains a small amount of lidocaine to help ease the filler as it is injected.

Aftercare

In the days following the injections, you may notice some common side effects such as:

  • Swelling
  • Bruising
  • Redness
  • Discomfort
  • Itchiness
  • Lumps

For the most part, these side effects should clear up in a week or two. For a day or two following Juvederm injections, your master injector may recommend avoiding strenuous exercise, alcohol, and certain blood-thinning medications and supplements.

Your filler will continue to settle for about two weeks. If you still notice lumps, unevenness, or the result does not fit your goals after two weeks, our master injectors can perform a quick touch up.

Botox in Bellevue & Kirkland

Facial wrinkles are one of the top concerns patients come to Northwest Face & Body wanting to solve. Depending on their age, quality of their skin, and other factors, it is likely that a non-surgical procedure will meet their goals. Countless procedures can treat the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles including fillers, chemical peels, and laser resurfacing. For patients with more extensive aging, surgical options like a facelift or CO2 laser resurfacing may provide the best results. For many patients, BOTOX injections may best treat and prevent wrinkles. Northwest Face & Body offers the best BOTOX Bellevue and Kirkland offers.

What Is BOTOX?

BOTOX is a neuromodulator, or neurotoxin. This toxin temporarily and partially paralyzes the muscles or structures it is injected into. While this may sound alarming, BOTOX injections are one of the most commonly performed cosmetic procedures with over 1.5 million injections performed annually. The number of injections continues to rise each year and BOTOX is widely considered a safe and effective procedure.

Along with cosmetic uses to soften wrinkles, BOTOX has some medical uses including the treatment of migraines and hyperhidrosis. It also is used in other fields of medicine such as ophthalmology to treat certain eye conditions and muscle disorders.

Botox Bellevue Common Treatment Areas:

At Northwest Face & Body, our injectors can treat many areas with BOTOX. The number of units will vary based on the area and the number of injection sites. The most common treatment areas include:

Most patients can undergo multiple injections during the same treatment. During a consultation with an injector at Northwest Face & Body, you can discuss the BOTOX areas that will benefit you and your goals.

History Of BOTOX:

BOTOX, as we know it today, was first isolated in the 1970s. Scientists studied this bacterial toxin for years beforehand, but the medical uses were heavily researched during the mid-to-late 20th century. The FDA approved BOTOX for the treatment of strabismus in 1989. Doctors performing the treatment and patients receiving it noticed that BOTOX smoothed the look of glabellar lines.

In 1992, Dr. Alastair Carruthers and Dr. Jean Carruthers, a dermatologist and ophthalmologist respectively, published a paper that BOTOX may offer cosmetic benefits. Less than ten years later, the FDA approved BOTOX for its first cosmetic use. Following this, the neuromodulation has now become one of the most popular cosmetic procedures around the world.

Benefits of Botox

BOTOX has many benefits. Other than the main benefit of treating fine lines and wrinkles, BOTOX offers many benefits like:

Consulting With An Injector in Bellevue

Before receiving BOTOX injections in Bellevue, one of our talented injectors will consult with you to discuss your goals and the best treatment. They will ask about your goals and medical history. Your injector may also examine the possible treatment areas. If they believe that BOTOX will benefit you, your injector will discuss the number of units required and desired treatment areas.

Oftentimes, if you are a good candidate for Bellevue BOTOX, you can receive treatment the same day. Subsequent appointments may only require 10 to 20 minutes for injections.

BOTOX Injections Day In Bellevue

To begin your Bellevue BOTOX treatment, your injector will first clean the injection sites with alcohol to prevent injection. They may also apply a topical numbing solution if you desire, although it is not necessary. Once fully numb or ready, your injector will carefully and artfully inject BOTOX into the targeted areas. Based on the injection sites, they may ask you to lift your brows, scowl, or otherwise move your facial muscles.

Most patients remain perfectly comfortable during Bellevue Botox injections and experience little to no pain. Once finished, you should see some results appear within a few hours. Full results usually take about two weeks to fully settle in. Injections of Botox Kirkland usually do not take more than 20 minutes at Northwest Face & Body.

Aftercare

After your BOTOX in Bellevue, you can return to most daily activities immediately. In general, your injector will give you instructions on what to do to promote the best results. Your injector may instruct you to:

Some patients may experience minor side effects following BOTOX injections. Like any other type of injection, such as a routine vaccine, swelling, redness, itching, bruising and small amounts of pain may occur. Usually, these clear up within a week or so and some patients may not experience any side effects.

BOTOX comes with relatively little risk. Major complications are notably rare, especially when seeing a qualified injector like those at Northwest Face & Body. Our injectors can answer questions you may have after BOTOX injections in Kirkland.

Frequently Asked Questions About BOTOX

Is BOTOX Permanent?

BOTOX is not a permanent treatment. Results typically last between three and six months. This will vary from patient to patient and is impacted by lifestyle. Certain areas may also need to be refreshed more often than others. Your injector can provide a more accurate timeline after evaluating your medical history and lifestyle during a Kirkland BOTOX consultation.

How Old Do You Have To Be To Get BOTOX in Bellevue?

Based on FDA approval, patients must be 18 years or older for cosmetic BOTOX injections Bellevue. Certain medical uses of BOTOX may sometimes treat medical conditions in children. Most cosmetic users begin neurotoxin injections in their late 20s or 30s when the early signs of aging become more apparent. This can prevent the onset of wrinkles and temporarily treat the appearance of dynamic wrinkles.

Some patients may begin injections earlier in their 20s in smaller doses known as “baby BOTOX”. These are smaller doses of BOTOX that may prolong the onset of wrinkles. Ultimately, when to start treatments is a personal decision. Bellevue BOTOX is most effective for patients who have not yet seen the more advanced signs of aging.

Is BOTOX A Filler?

No, BOTOX is not a dermal filler. Dermal fillers–usually made of hyaluronic acid–fill in hollows on the face. BOTOX treats the muscle to prevent muscle contractions that cause wrinkles while fillers disguise their appearance by filling them in. You can use BOTOX and dermal fillers together safely. This often yields wonderful results and is sometimes called a liquid facelift.

How Many Units Of Kirkland BOTOX Do I Need?

The answer to this question will depend on the treatment areas, the severity of wrinkles, and many other factors. Your injector will discuss the proper number of units with you before treatment. On average, patients get between 20 and 60 units.
