Dermal filler injections are among the most popular cosmetic procedures in the United States with over a million injections performed every year. Within the dermal filler category, hyaluronic acid fillers are by far the most popular due to their good safety profile and versatility. Two filler manufacturers offer hyaluronic acid fillers–Restylane and Juvederm. Both are about equal in usage and most providers offer both. Northwest Face & Body offers the best Juvederm Bellevue and Kirkland provides.
Juvederm is a type of cosmetic injectable known as a dermal filler. It is injected for two main purposes: to fill hollows and wrinkles or to augment areas of the face. Primarily used on the face, dermal fillers like Juvederm are among the top non-surgical procedures for anti-aging. With millions of filler injections performed every year, it is an extremely popular and versatile tool for looking younger and achieving your ideal facial aesthetic.
Within facial fillers, some subcategories refer to what the filler is made out of. Juvederm belongs to the largest and most used classification: hyaluronic acid fillers. This means that Juvederm is lower risk than semi-permanent fillers and can treat more places such as the lips.
The master injectors at Northwest Face & Body are masters at using Juvederm to artfully augment and fill in facial features. Northwest Face & Body provides the best Juvederm Bellevue and Kirkland offers.
Juvederm has many applications across the face. Some of the areas Juvederm can treat include:
Patients can usually treat multiple areas at once. Juvederm also pairs well with neurotoxin treatment such as BOTOX or Dysport. Your master injector will discuss which areas you are a candidate for treatment and the best Juvederm filler for each area.
Hyaluronic acid is found naturally in the body, the largest concentrations of which are in the eyes and joints. Therefore, while rejection or allergy to the filler is possible, it is highly unlikely. Another major benefit of hyaluronic acid filler is that they have a natural reversal agent, hyaluronidase.
When injected, it breaks up the filler. If you experience major side effects or complications or end up unhappy with your new look, there is an easy antidote. This also increases the safety of hyaluronic acid fillers when compared with other types of fillers. If occlusion (the injection of filler into a blood vessel) or an adverse event occurs, it can be immediately addressed in the office.
While it may not seem like an advantage at first, the temporary nature of hyaluronic acid fillers allows patients to stop treatments whenever they want, try out various filler options, and try out different looks each time. This experimentation allows patients to find the exactly right filler option and technique for them.
Juvederm makes a few different fillers that each have a slightly varied consistency and tend to be used in different areas. The main Juvederm offerings are Juvederm Ultra, Juvederm Ultra Plus, and Juvederm Voluma. Your master injector can discuss each option with you in detail and help determine which is best for the area you are treating and your goals.
The first step for undergoing Juvederm filler injections in Bellevue is to attend a consultation with a master injector. At this appointment, your master injector will ask you about your goals, medical history, history with fillers, and lifestyle. They may also briefly examine the area to evaluate the skin quality, thickness, and other factors that influence the filler choice and process.
If they believe you are a good candidate for your chosen procedure, they will discuss the many fillers you have to choose from. In some cases, you may undergo filler injections the same day. Otherwise, you can schedule your appointment at your convenience or before leaving the office.
First, your master injector will prep the injection sites. This involves disinfecting the areas with alcohol and cleansing them of any makeup or environmental debris. After this, they will likely apply topical numbing cream. This will sit for around ten to twenty minutes. During this time, your injector will prepare the Juvederm.
Your master injector will then begin the filler injections. Depending on the treatment, they may use a needle or cannula. If using a needle, they will start injections immediately. With a cannula, they will make a small entry point for the cannula using a small needle. After inserting the needle or cannula they will slowly inject the filler. They may move the needle within the injection point or inject at multiple sites to add volume evenly for the ideal results.
For most areas, the injections themselves do not take longer than about ten to fifteen minutes. You can have multiple areas treated at the same time. Along with the topical numbing cream, the Juvederm contains a small amount of lidocaine to help ease the filler as it is injected.
In the days following the injections, you may notice some common side effects such as:
For the most part, these side effects should clear up in a week or two. For a day or two following Juvederm injections, your master injector may recommend avoiding strenuous exercise, alcohol, and certain blood-thinning medications and supplements.
Your filler will continue to settle for about two weeks. If you still notice lumps, unevenness, or the result does not fit your goals after two weeks, our master injectors can perform a quick touch up.

Collagen production is essential for maintaining supple, healthy skin. At around age 25, collagen production slowly begins to decrease. While not significant or noticeable at first, as environmental damage continues to take a toll on the skin, your body will not be able to keep up. This can lead to signs of aging such as wrinkles, sun spots, and sagging. Luckily, due to modern science, there are many minimally invasive ways to tighten the skin all around the body. Northwest Face & Body offers the best Renuvion
Renuvion, also called J plasma, is among the newest innovations in skin tightening and body contouring. It uses a combination of plasma and radiofrequency. These two elements are frequently used elsewhere in general and aesthetic medicine–to cause the skin to retract. Often paired with liposuction and other body contouring procedures, Renuvion offers patients the opportunity to restore their bodies to tight and youthful contours.
Plasma is often referred to as the fourth state of matter. It can be observed in lightning, neon signs, and more. Essentially, plasma is created gas is heated, similar to boiling water. In the case of Renuvion, helium gas is heated to create cold plasma. This cold plasma remains cooler than typical plasma because it contains more neutral ions, preventing burns.
Radiofrequency joins plasma to promote skin tightening in Renuvion. Plasma primarily treats the lower tissue of the skin while the radiofrequency waves will penetrate through the skin. This tightens from the inside out for the best results. RF energy is already used for skin tightening with other procedures such as RF microneedling. It has proven to be helpful when treating aged lax skin.
Renuvion treatment carries many benefits and advantages. As one of the few effective, non-invasive options for skin tightening, many seek out Renuvion or combine it with other procedures for the best results. Some of the possible benefits include:
Tighter skin
Can be used almost anywhere
Non-invasive and safe
Needs only small incisions
Can accommodate different anesthesia types
Combinable with other procedures
Quick procedure
Viable for most healthy adults of any age
Little risk
Few, minor side effects
Cannula goes just beneath the skin
Limited recovery time
Works on all skin types
Performed by an experienced plastic surgeon
Renuvion is not the only non-invasive procedure that tightens the skin. Vaser liposuction is also an option for many patients looking for a tighter physique. Each can provide fantastic results, but one is usually preferred over the other based on the situation, goals, and the patient’s anatomy. The table below describes some of the differences between Renuvion and Vaser.
Renuvion
Focuses only on skin tightening
Uses plasma and radiofrequency to promote skin tightening from the inside out
Does not remove fat when utilized on its own
Frequently paired with liposuction, but can be effective without
Tightens skin, but usually does not contribute to muscle definition
Vaser
Primarily focuses on fat with some skin tightening
Uses ultrasonic waves
Helps remove small portions of fat to improve muscle definition
Emulsifies fat before traditional liposuction is performed
Almost always performed with lipo
Ultrasonic waves promote skin tightening
The two procedures do have many similarities. Both are often paired with liposuction for the best results and provide some sort of skin tightening. Renuvion may be slightly more effective for skin tightening, but, unlike Vaser, it does not do anything for fat. The two are also fairly non-invasive and only require small incisions.
Vaser and Renuvion can be used together and often provide amazing results when used alongside one another. However, it is not always necessary. Dr. Allegra can discuss these possibilities and whether you are a good candidate for Renuvion, Vaser, or a combination of both.
At a consultation with Dr. Allegra at Northwest Face & Body, you will get a chance to discuss your body goals, concerns, and ask questions. Dr. Allegra will want to know about your current and past medical history, aspects of your lifestyle, and what you expect from Renuvion in Bellevue. Following this in-depth discussion, he may examine the area to determine the amount of extra skin. As well as if you have any fat that needs removing to reach your goals, and the overall quality of the skin.
If you and Dr. Allegra both think Renuvion is right for you, he will create a comprehensive plan. This may include additional procedures like liposuction. Sometimes splitting the procedure into two if you want to address multiple areas is the safest option.
Once your surgery is scheduled and approaching, Dr. Allegra may give you some instructions for preparing for surgery. A few examples may include:
Finding financing
Making arrangements for transportation, childcare, etc.
Discontinuing or altering certain medications for a week/a few days before surgery
Maintaining a healthy diet and exercise
Begin certain medications if instructed
In most cases of Renuvion treatment, you will be placed under general anesthesia. If liposuction or another surgical procedure is part of your surgical plan, Dr. Allegra will start with these. Following the completion of these procedures, he will then make small incisions. Dr. Allegra may also use existing liposuction incisions to perform Renuvion skin tightening.
Inserting the cannula just beneath the skin, he will gently and slowly glide it under the skin in the treatment area. Dr. Allegra will repeat this along the treatment area and in any other areas you want to be treated. Sometimes, the skin tightening becomes visible during treatment.
Following Renuvion, Dr. Allegra may prescribe antibiotics to prevent infection. He may also recommend wearing a compression garment to promote further skin tightening and prevent side effects such as swelling. It is similar to the recovery after liposuction surgery.
Dr. Allegra typically recommends five to seven days off work. This may vary based on your medical history and procedure. As far as side effects, you may experience some minor swelling, bruising, pain, redness, tenderness, and itchiness. Generally, these are manageable and bearable. Dr. Allegra may also prescribe painkillers, but if you only undergo Renuvion, it may not be necessary.
No, though it is often performed alongside liposuction. Renuvion does not address fat, only skin. Therefore, it is ideal for those who may have extra skin following weight loss or aging. Though, Dr. Allegra often recommends Renuvion and liposuction at the same time.
With the ideal care, patients can expect their results to last around three to five years. That said, younger patients may see longer lasting results. Aging cannot be stopped. Therefore, the skin will slowly begin losing elasticity again. Certain body areas are more susceptible to this than others.
Other factors such as the age of the patient, medical conditions, if liposuction was also performed, etc. After surgery, you can promote the best and longest lasting results in many ways including:
Follow recovery instructions carefully
Take good care of your skin
Eat well and exercise
Maintain weight
Treat medical conditions
Renuvion can be used nearly anywhere on the body. Some of the most frequently treated areas of the body include:
Abdomen
Thighs
Arms
Hips
Back
Chin
Nearly anywhere you can undergo liposuction you can also undergo Renuvion skin tightening. It is also possible to treat multiple areas during one surgical session for most patients.
Once you wake up from surgery, you may notice some minor skin tightening results. However, these will likely become distorted in the next couple of days as swelling settles in. Like most plastic surgeries, it can take several months to get your final, visible results. Most patients are satisfied within three to six months of a procedure. Though, results will continue to improve for several months. In contrast to patients, plastic surgeons usually do not consider results as final until nine to twelve months after.
The total cost of Renuvion will depend on the number of areas being treated and the specifics of your procedure. At Northwest Face & Body, Renuvion skin tightening starts at $4,000.
